Double page spread

My double page spread feature is going to be focused on my band Fusion. The feature will include both an overview of the band including an introduction to themselves, and what they have become however will also include a personal interview so the fans can get all the information and facts they desire to hear about their new favourite band. Furthermore I will include a variety of pics from the band from an exclusive photo-shoot. The pics will include a large poster shot however also there will be smaller pics which the fan can cut out and keep in their purse etc.



Interview

below is a draft of my interview with fusion to be used in my double page spread, however it is likely to change as images will be included to coincide with the text, speech bubble with funny/important parts of the interview. The main purpose of the interview is get gossip from the band when they answer the questions this will appeal to the target audience predominantly young girls who just want to know every last detail about their favourite band so that they can develop personal relationships. However also to inform the readers of upcoming gigs or signings so that the readers get their surveillance  The language is informal and chatty to suit the interview format, the chatty tone make the interview easier to read, and more attractive to the readers. I want the individual members to all have an equal say in the interview, to ensure that their own personality come across so that the readers can understand each of them and potentially help the reader compare and explore their own values and through with fusion and help them identify who their favourite is



Transcript of interview with Fusion

Interviewer-  Hi guys, great to have you here, how are you today?

Tasha - hello, thank you its our pleasure, we are all great thanks, Excited!
Niall - yeah we are all very excited, first impression are everything right?

Interviewer - They sure are Niall, but yours is great, so the question that everyone wants to know is how did you guys meet?

Dan - we are all childhood friends, growing up on the same street then going to lower , middle and high school together
Tasha - its true I cant think of any birthday party or school disco where we all were not at together

Interviewer - aww so you really have been friends forever! so you all know each other annoying habits then (laughs)

Niall - yes, Dan never ever stops humming! it can get so annoying (laughs)
Dan - yes that's true, but you never stop tapping your feet to every beat, wait that rhymed (laughs)

Interviewer - When did you decide to overcome each others annoying habits and become a band

When designing the layout of my magazine, I took into account the design principle 'Rule of thirds'.

The design grid makes it easier to design clearly, consistently and with continuity. It helps decide where to put the elements which include...

1. Format (size of the finished project)
2. Type area and margins
3. Columns (column width, column spacing, column height)
4. Basic typeface and point sizes (number of character in a column)
5. Column spacing (number of lines in a column)
6. Dividing the column into grid fields

Here I have a made a collage of the best, respected and talented pop stars.

Identifying these artists/bands helped me decide what artist/band I wanted to feature therefore I found a gap in the music market, as it was missing a trio band consisting of male and females.

'SPLASH' pop music magazine

SPLASH is the new upcoming pop magazine which will be issued fortnightly and after thorough research the price will be £2.99
The cover story that will feature is of the new band '......'. The feature will focus on how they have achieved their break through in music, it will also be a chance for the band to promote themselves to a wider audience as well as giving advise to aspiring music stars.
Other band who will feature in SPLASH include One Direction, Katy Perry,Taylor Swift whom all will appeal to the primary targert audience of teenage girls.
Regular features will include; exclusive interviews, features of aspiring music stars, links to upcoming music stars such as their twitter, advice, CD reviews, latest fashion trends and 'Song of the fortnight'.

Who will feature in my band?

 

The band who will feature in my magazine is a new, upcoming pop band who consists of 3 childhood best friends, their friendship has blossomed over many years and know they have decided to combine their unique and fabulous talents.

They have only recently decided to come together but have already done a numerous amount of local gigs, gathering up a mini fan base. Furthermore they have took twitter by storm and have an impressive number of followers. They have take advantage of the ever evolving social networking sites to promote themselves. Now they have hit their big break as they have been signed to one of the best record companies in town.

This mood board represents my magazines reader demographic profile.

Their interests includes music, fashion, beauty, social networking and television such as MTV.

The target audience age range for my magazine is 12-17, my magazine will interest that as not also will they have all the latest music gossip about their idols and rising stars they will have, exclusive interviews, the latest fashion trends, free posters and advice from the stars themselves.

I know teenagers girls between 12 and 17 are still undergoing the transition where they are trying to identify themselves and discover their music and fashion taste, the magazine will be aid them into becoming an individual. This is an important factor as to why i chose pop music magazine because i will be able to use my uses and gratifications knowledge to undesrtand what the consumers will want from the magazine as i am part of the target audience.

 The occupation of my target audience are students, therefore they won't have an income however their parents can buy the magazine or they can using pocket/spending money.

The secondary audience for my magazine will consist of boys who enjoy pop music and are engaging with fashion and gossip at a young age. The magazine will cater for both genders as it will feature a  varied range of male and female popstars.
